Frequently Asked Questions About Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 40/60, Nitrite-Free — Data Center Coolant

What is Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 40/60, Nitrite-Free?
A ready-to-use coolant of 40 % v/v ethylene glycol (CAS 107-21-1) in deionized water (41-44 % by weight) with a nitrite-free corrosion-inhibitor package based on sodium benzoate.
Is it really nitrite-free and amine-free?
Yes. The SDS composition lists no nitrite, silicate, borate, molybdate or amines (including triethanolamine); phosphate appears only as a trace under 0.002%. That is the difference from Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 40/60 with OAT-908, whose hybrid package contains sodium nitrite.
What freeze protection does it provide?
Freezing point about -25 °C (-13 °F) typical and -23 °C (-10 °F) maximum per ASTM D1177, density 1.051-1.062 g/cm³ at 20 °C, pH 8.0-9.5. These are typical reference values, not lot measurements.
Is it compatible with aluminum cold plates?
It contains no nitrite, which some aluminum cold-plate specifications exclude. The finished blend has not been coupon-tested on aluminum (ASTM D1384 or D4340), so check it against your equipment maker's coolant specification before filling an aluminum loop.
Is it regulated for shipping?
No. It is not regulated as a dangerous good by DOT, IMDG or IATA as Alliance Chemical ships it, and it is not a marine pollutant. For workplace hazard communication it carries signal word Warning, H302 (harmful if swallowed) and H373 (may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure).
Do you provide an SDS and COA?
Yes. A Safety Data Sheet ships with every order and a lot Certificate of Analysis ships with bulk loads. Contact sales@alliancechemical.com or call (512) 365-6838.
