The short answer

Quick answer

DOWCAL 100E is Dow's ethylene glycol concentrate with a nitrite-, nitrate- and borate-free inhibitor. Our Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 40/60, Nitrite-Free is a ready-to-use 40% ethylene glycol premix with a nitrite-free sodium benzoate inhibitor and no borate. It arrives at strength, so you fill instead of blending, and it protects to about -25 °C (-13 °F). It is an alternative with a different inhibitor package, not an identical fluid.

Questions

Is your nitrite-free ethylene glycol the same as DOWCAL 100E?

No. Both are nitrite-free ethylene glycol coolants, but DOWCAL 100E is a concentrate and ours is a ready-to-use 40% premix with a sodium benzoate inhibitor package. Check it against your equipment maker's coolant specification.

What freeze protection does the 40/60 premix give?

About -25 °C (-13 °F) typical and -23 °C (-10 °F) maximum per ASTM D1177. For colder sites, ask about a stronger blend.

Is it borate-free and nitrate-free?

Yes. The SDS composition lists no borate, nitrate or nitrite.

Can I mix it with DOWCAL already in the loop?

No. Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill.
