The short answer

Quick answer

Thermal Charge EG and Thermal Charge PG are Old World Industries' inhibited glycol heat-transfer fluids, sold as a concentrate and as a 50/50 premix by volume that freezes at about -30 °F. We sell inhibited ethylene and propylene glycol concentrates and premixes for the same closed loops. Our premixes are named by percent by weight and our inhibitor chemistry is different, so match on freeze point and treat ours as an alternative, not the same fluid.

What to order

The products that fit this spec, and what each one is for.

For Thermal Charge EG 50/50

Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 50/50 with OAT-908

Ready-mixed 50/50 inhibited ethylene glycol with deionized water. About 1 °F warmer than Thermal Charge EG 50/50; ask for a stronger blend if your design needs -30 °F.

Freeze point: approx. -34 °C (-29 °F) typical; -32.5 °C (-27 °F) max, at 50 wt% ethylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

For Thermal Charge PG 50/50 (non-food loops)

Inhibited Propylene Glycol 50/50 with OAT Inhibitor

Ready-mixed 50/50 inhibited propylene glycol for HVAC and chiller loops that do not need a food-grade fluid.

Freeze point: approx. -33 °C (-28 °F) at 50 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Concentrate, or blended to order

100% Ethylene Glycol Inhibited

Inhibited ethylene glycol concentrate for site blending, or blended by us to the exact freeze point you need.

Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Need a different concentration? We blend to the freeze point you specify, in pails, drums and 275- or 330-gallon totes.

Questions

Which of your products replaces Thermal Charge EG 50/50?

Our Inhibited Ethylene Glycol 50/50 with OAT-908, at about -29 °F typical against Thermal Charge's -30 °F. If your design temperature needs the full -30 °F, we blend it slightly stronger to order.

Can I use your propylene glycol in a food plant?

No. Thermal Charge PG is NSF HT1 registered; ours is not food grade and is not for food contact or potable-water protection.

Can I top up a Thermal Charge system with your fluid?

No. Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill.

Why do the 50/50 freeze points differ?

Thermal Charge 50/50 is 50% by volume. Our premixes are 50% by weight, which is slightly weaker. Pick the strength from your coldest fluid temperature, not from the name.
