01

The short answer

Quick answer

NOBURST is Noble Company's family of propylene glycol antifreeze and heat-transfer fluids, inhibited with dipotassium phosphate. The -100 in NOBURST -100 is its burst point, not its freeze point: Noble rates it to freeze at -60 °F and burst at -100 °F. Our Propylene Glycol 60% Inhibited freezes at about -60 °F typical, and our premixes match each diluted NOBURST and RTU blend by freeze point. Our inhibitor is a nitrite-containing hybrid organic-acid package, not phosphate, so this is an alternative, not the same fluid.

For NOBURST -100 (-60 °F)

Propylene Glycol 60% Inhibited

60% propylene glycol by weight premix at the same -60 °F typical freeze point as NOBURST -100 and SUPER NOBURST at 75%. Our guaranteed maximum is -58 °F.

Freeze point: approx. -51 °C (-60 °F) at 60 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

For RTU35, RTU40 and 50% mixes (0 to -6 °F)

Inhibited Propylene Glycol 40/60 with OAT Inhibitor

40% by weight premix at about -6 °F typical: matching the freeze point of RTU40, and colder than RTU35 and NOBURST -100 at 50%.

Freeze point: approx. -21 °C (-6 °F) at 40 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

For RTU30 (11 °F)

Inhibited Propylene Glycol 30/70 with OAT Inhibitor

30% by weight premix that freezes a little colder than RTU30.

Freeze point: approx. -13 °C (9 °F) at 30 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

For SUPER NOBURST at 50% (-20 °F)

Inhibited Propylene Glycol 50/50 with OAT Inhibitor

50% by weight premix at about -28 °F typical. NOBURST -100 at 75% is -30 °F, about 2 °F colder than this premix, so we blend that one to order.

Freeze point: approx. -33 °C (-28 °F) at 50 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Concentrate, or blended to order

100% Propylene Glycol Inhibited

Inhibited propylene glycol concentrate for site blending with deionized water, or blended by us to the freeze point you need, such as -30 °F.

Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Need a different concentration? We blend to the freeze point you specify, in pails, drums and 275- or 330-gallon totes.

Questions

What does the -100 in NOBURST -100 mean?

It is the burst point in °F, not the freeze point and not a concentration. Noble rates NOBURST -100 to freeze at -60 °F and burst at -100 °F. Freeze point is where the first ice crystal forms; burst point is where the fluid turns solid and can split a pipe. Compare freeze point to freeze point and burst point to burst point, never one against the other.

Which of your products matches NOBURST -100?

Our Propylene Glycol 60% Inhibited: about -60 °F typical, the same freeze point as NOBURST -100, with a guaranteed maximum of -58 °F. We do not publish burst ratings; we design to freeze point.

Which of your products matches NOBURST RTU30, RTU35 or RTU40?

RTU30 (11 °F): our 30/70 at about 9 °F. RTU35 (0 °F) and RTU40 (-6 °F): our 40/60 at about -6 °F. Our 35/65 freezes at about 2 °F, which is warmer than RTU35, so we do not point RTU35 users to it.

Can I top up a NOBURST system with your fluid?

No. NOBURST uses a phosphate inhibitor and ours is a nitrite-containing organic-acid package. Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill.

Do you have something for NOBURST HD or NOBURST AL systems?

Not as a published rating. We publish no 325 °F rating like NOBURST HD and no aluminum rating for our propylene glycol like NOBURST AL. Send your system details with a quote request before using ours in those systems.

Is your propylene glycol food grade?

No. Noble describes NOBURST's ingredients as GRAS; ours is not food grade and is not for food contact or potable water.

Can you add dye?

Yes. Our fluid ships undyed; green or purple leak-detection dye can be pre-mixed on request.
