The short answer

Quick answer

KOSTChill PG HD is KOST USA's heavy-duty inhibited propylene glycol concentrate for HVAC and chiller loops, diluted on site to 25 to 70%. Our 100% Propylene Glycol Inhibited does the same job: about 96% propylene glycol with a 4% corrosion-inhibitor package, diluted with deionized water to the freeze point you need. The inhibitor packages differ (ours contains nitrite) and ours is undyed, so it is an alternative, not an identical fluid.

Questions

Is your inhibited propylene glycol the same as KOSTChill PG HD?

No. Both are inhibited propylene glycol concentrates for HVAC and chiller loops, but the inhibitor packages differ and ours is undyed. Treat it as an alternative and check it against your system's fluid specification.

Can I top up a KOSTChill loop with your product?

Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill when you change fluids.

Is it nitrite-free?

No. Our propylene glycol inhibitor package contains nitrite.

What concentration should I dilute to?

Use the lowest concentration that covers your coldest fluid temperature plus margin: about 30% protects to roughly -13 °C (9 °F), 50% to roughly -33 °C (-28 °F).
