The short answer

Quick answer

DOWFROST HD is Dow's heavy-duty inhibited propylene glycol concentrate for HVAC and data-center facility loops. Our 100% Propylene Glycol Inhibited does the same job: about 96% propylene glycol with a 4% corrosion-inhibitor package, diluted with deionized water to the freeze point you need. The inhibitor chemistry differs (ours contains nitrite) and ours is undyed, so it is an alternative, not an identical fluid.

Concentrate

100% Propylene Glycol Inhibited

Inhibited propylene glycol concentrate (96/4) for site blending with deionized water. Pails, drums and IBC totes.

Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Ready-mixed

Inhibited Propylene Glycol 40/60 with OAT Inhibitor

40% propylene glycol already blended with deionized water and inhibitor, for loops where you would rather not mix on site.

Freeze point: approx. -21 °C (-6 °F) at 40 wt% propylene glycol · Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Dilution water

Deionized Water ACS Reagent Grade

Conductivity under 1 µS/cm for diluting the concentrate; tap or softened water adds chloride and hardness that use up the inhibitor.

Quart to 330-gallon tote · COA with every lot

Need a different concentration? We blend to the freeze point you specify, in pails, drums and 275- or 330-gallon totes.

Questions

Is your inhibited propylene glycol the same as DOWFROST HD?

No. Both are inhibited propylene glycol concentrates for the same kinds of loops, but the inhibitor packages differ: ours is a nitrite-containing hybrid organic-acid package and it is undyed. Treat it as an alternative and confirm it against your system's fluid specification.

Can I top up a DOWFROST HD system with your product?

Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill when you change fluids.

Does it meet nitrite-free specifications?

No. It contains nitrite. If your equipment maker requires a nitrite-free coolant, it is not a fit.

What concentration should I dilute to?

Use the lowest concentration that covers the coldest fluid temperature plus margin; 25 to 35% is common for indoor technology loops and 40 to 50% for outdoor or freeze-exposed piping.

What sizes are available?

Quart through 5-gallon pail, 55-gallon drum and 275- or 330-gallon IBC tote, with a lot certificate of analysis.
