Quick answer

Antminer Hydro units run on antifreeze, pure water or deionized water. For antifreeze Bitmain specifies pH 7.0 to 9.0, and most Antminer Hydro fleets sit in ANTSPACE HK3 containers whose coolant table caps boron, silicon, phosphorus, molybdenum and calcium. For those sites we supply our nitrite-free inhibited ethylene glycol premix. Sites on third-party dry coolers can also run our nitrite-containing organic-acid premixes.

Nitrite-free inhibitor with no silicate, borate or molybdate and only trace phosphate, so it stays inside the HK3 element caps. 40% ethylene glycol covers a Texas freeze.

Questions

What coolant does an Antminer S21 XP Hyd use?

Bitmain lists antifreeze, pure water or deionized water. For antifreeze the pH should be 7.0 to 9.0. Inlet temperature runs 20 to 50 °C at 8 to 10 L/min per miner, and pressure stays at or below 3.5 bar.

Water or antifreeze for a Texas hydro site?

Antifreeze, if the dry coolers or piping can see a freeze. In February 2021 Dallas-Fort Worth fell to about -19 °C (-2 °F). A 40% ethylene glycol premix protects to about -22 to -25 °C.

Which inhibitor is right for an ANTSPACE HK3?

The HK3 coolant table caps boron, silicon, phosphorus, molybdenum and calcium at 20 mg/kg each. Our nitrite-free premix has no borate, silicate or molybdate in its inhibitor and only a trace of phosphate, so it is the one we supply for HK3 containers.

How much coolant does each miner hold?

Very little; the fill is set by the container or dry-cooler loop. An HK3 container takes roughly 1.3 to 1.5 tonnes of coolant, about 1.2 to 1.4 totes of 275 gallons.

Can I mix different coolants?

No. Do not mix inhibitor chemistries. Drain, flush with deionized water and refill when you switch products.
