Chemical Profile
This product is a colorless liquid with a slightly sharp odor. The 10% w/w aqueous solution has a density of 1.035 at 20 °C — slightly heavier than water, which matters when you're converting drum weight to volume for dosing. Hydrogen peroxide is fully miscible in practice, with published solubility of greater than or equal to 100 mg/mL at 72 °F, and a low vapor pressure of 1 mmHg at 59.5 °F, so it does not fume aggressively at room temperature the way volatile solvents do. The molecule itself is H2O2, molecular weight 34.015, CAS 7722-84-1. Its defining behavior is decomposition: it breaks down into water and oxygen, and that breakdown accelerates with heat, light, and contamination — which drives every storage rule further down this page.
Industrial Applications
Hydrogen peroxide earns its place in industry because it oxidizes cleanly — its decomposition products are water and oxygen, leaving no persistent chemical residue in the treated stream.

Water treatment. Operators dose peroxide to oxidize contaminants such as sulfides and organics in wastewater and process water. The 10% strength is a common working concentration for metered feed systems.

Handling & Storage
This product carries the signal word Danger, with hazard statements H302 (Harmful if swallowed) and H318 (Causes serious eye damage) (per the product's GHS classification). H318 is the one to respect on the floor: splash-rated goggles or a face shield are the minimum any time you transfer this material, along with chemical-resistant gloves. Ventilate transfer areas.
Peroxide is a strong oxidizer, and contamination is its enemy. Keep it away from organic materials, reducing agents, and metals that catalyze decomposition. Never return unused product to the container — dosing a drum with a contaminated pump or funnel can start a slow decomposition that pressurizes the package. Store it cool, out of direct sunlight, in its original vented HDPE packaging, and don't transfer it into unrated containers. Under prolonged exposure to fire or heat, containers of hydrogen peroxide can rupture violently from decomposition pressure — keep it clear of heat sources and combustibles.
