It is fully miscible with water — solubility is greater than or equal to 100 mg/mL at 72 °F. Its density is 0.791 at 68 °F, meaning it floats on water. Vapor pressure is 180 mmHg at 68 °F and rises to 270 mmHg at 86 °F, so it evaporates rapidly at room temperature — plan your ventilation accordingly. The flash point is 0 °F, classifying it as a highly flammable liquid (per the product's GHS classification). Vapors are heavier than air and can travel along floors to distant ignition sources.

Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources, open flames, and strong oxidizers. With a flash point of 0 °F, acetone vapors can ignite at any normal working temperature — eliminate all ignition sources in the storage and use area. Use HDPE or glass containers; acetone attacks certain plastics and rubbers. Wear chemical splash goggles and nitrile or butyl rubber gloves during handling. In poorly ventilated spaces, use supplied-air or organic-vapor-cartridge respiratory protection.
Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use. Acetone's high vapor pressure means it evaporates fast from open vessels, creating a flammable vapor blanket that is heavier than air and can travel to distant ignition sources along floors and in sumps.
