Alliance Chemical is a bulk phosphoric acid supplier stocking H₃PO₄ (CAS 7664-38-2) from 5% to 85% in four grades — USP Food Grade, Food Grade, Technical Grade, and ACS Reagent Grade — packaged from single quarts to 55-gallon drums and 275- and 330-gallon IBC totes. A 55-gallon drum of 75% starts at $1,525, every order ships from our warehouse in Taylor, Texas with no hazmat fee and no minimum order, and most in-stock orders leave in 1–2 business days.
Choose a grade
The grade on each product page is the grade in the certificate, stated per SKU and never inferred. Concentration and grade are separate choices — most strengths from 5% to 85% are stocked in more than one grade, so pick the grade your specification requires first, then the strength your process wants.
| Grade |
What picks it |
|
USP Food Grade (75%, 85%) |
Meets the USP/FCC monograph — the specification beverage, food-processing, and dietary-supplement buyers require for acidulation and pH control |
|
Food Grade (5%–50%) |
Pre-diluted working strengths of food-specification acid for process lines that dose below concentrate strength |
|
Technical Grade (5%–85%) |
The industrial tier for metal prep and rust removal, water treatment, fertilizer chemistry, and general process work — including the 30% rust remover blended for direct use |
|
ACS Reagent Grade (5%–85%) |
Certified to ACS specifications for procedures that name a reagent-grade acid |
Why 75% exists — and when to buy it over 85%
85% phosphoric acid is the standard commercial concentrate, but it begins to crystallize around 70 °F — a drum stored in an unheated warehouse or shipped in winter can arrive partly solid. 75% stays liquid far below freezing, which is why cold-climate plants and winter buyers specify it — and it is cheaper per drum. If your process is water-sensitive and needs maximum P₂O₅ per gallon, take 85% and store it warm; if handling temperature is outside your control, 75% is the practical choice.
Drum and tote pricing
These are the live single-container prices as of 2026-08-17 — the same prices in the cart, with per-gallon economics at the volume breaks. A 55-gallon drum of 85% Technical Grade is $1,803 ($32.78/gal). The 5%–50% dilutions in every grade are priced on their product pages; standing-order volume is quoted at 512-365-6838.

How phosphoric acid ships
Phosphoric acid solution is a DOT-regulated corrosive: UN1805, Phosphoric acid solution, Hazard Class 8. Quarts and gallons ship by ground parcel; drums and totes move as LTL corrosive-class freight from Taylor, Texas on our regular carriers. Alliance Chemical does not add a hazmat fee at any package size — the price on the page is the price. Most in-stock orders ship within 1–2 business days.
COA and SDS
A lot-specific Certificate of Analysis — for the lot you receive, not a generic sample — is available for every product in this collection through the COA request page. Safety Data Sheets for every grade are in the SDS library; review the SDS before handling. Phosphoric acid is corrosive to skin and eyes and attacks ordinary steel — use compatible materials (316 stainless, HDPE, PVC) for storage and transfer.
Common applications
-
Rust removal and metal prep: phosphoric acid converts red iron oxide to a stable phosphate layer — the chemistry behind rust converters and pre-paint metal treatment.
-
Food and beverage acidulation: USP Food Grade acid provides tartness and pH control in beverages and processed foods, and cleans food-contact process equipment.
-
Water treatment: corrosion-control dosing and pH adjustment in municipal and industrial systems.
-
Fertilizer and chemical feedstock: the phosphorus source for phosphate salt production and agricultural formulation.
