Botanical extraction facilities use ethanol and hydrocarbon solvents for extraction and winterization, and have to meet their state's residual-solvent limits. Craft distilleries use food-grade acids and caustic soda for mash pH and cleaning.

Questions buyers ask

Which ACS reagent grade chemicals do you carry?

Acids such as nitric, sulfuric and hydrochloric, and solvents such as acetone, methanol and hexane, among others. Each product page names its grade, and most of these also come in technical grade. Ask for the certificate of analysis for your lot and we send it free.

Can I use your solvents for botanical extraction?

Denatured ethanol, n-heptane and ethyl acetate are among the solvents extraction facilities buy from us. Check your state's approved solvents and residual-solvent limits before you order, including whether the denaturant in denatured ethanol is allowed, and ask for the certificate of analysis for your lot.
