Why This Concentration
50% is the workhorse concentration for inhibited propylene glycol. At this strength the fluid delivers strong freeze protection for most North American climates while keeping viscosity — and therefore pumping load — lower than concentrate diluted incorrectly on site. Because it ships pre-mixed, the inhibitor is already proportioned to the glycol content; you avoid the most common field error, which is diluting concentrate with hard or untreated water and stripping the inhibitor's effectiveness.
Match the concentration to your exposure. If your loop runs indoors in a milder climate and you mainly want burst protection with maximum heat transfer efficiency, look at 30% Propylene Glycol Inhibited or 40% Propylene Glycol Inhibited — thinner solutions move heat more efficiently. If you want to control the dilution ratio yourself, or you top off systems at varying strengths, 100% Propylene Glycol Inhibited gives you the concentrate and leaves the water chemistry to you. Chemical Profile
This Technical Grade inhibited formulation is a clear, colorless liquid with an odorless to mild odor. Density runs 1.04–1.05 g/cm³, noticeably heavier than water — a full 55-gallon drum reflects that, so plan drum handling equipment accordingly. The fluid is miscible with water in all proportions, which is what makes glycol loops forgiving to top off and flush. The base molecule is propylene glycol, formula C3H8O2, molecular weight 76.09, CAS 57-55-6.
Industrial Applications

HVAC heat transfer fluid. Charged into hydronic heating and cooling loops, the 50% solution carries heat between boilers, air handlers, and coils while the inhibitor package protects wetted metal surfaces through service cycles.

Industrial chillers and process cooling. In chiller circuits and jacketed process equipment, the fluid moves heat away from the load and keeps the loop liquid through low-temperature excursions.
