Acetone Technical Grade
Acetone Technical Grade, with the chemical formula C₃H₆O (also known as 2-Propanone or Dimethyl ketone), is a colorless, highly volatile liquid characterized by a sweet odor. This solvent offers exceptional solvency across a broad spectrum of organic compounds and exhibits a low viscosity that facilitates equipment compatibility and rapid processing in industrial and laboratory workflows. Its flash point of 11°C and vapor pressure of 180 mmHg (20°C) reflect its safe handling profile when managed under appropriate controls. Typical assay by Gas Chromatography (GC) is 99.9 wt% with a specification range of 99.5–100.5 wt%, supporting high-purity performance for analytical and manufacturing applications. The product adheres to ACS Reagent Grade and USP-NF Monograph standards, ensuring traceability and reliability in quality-critical environments.
The technical grade formulation is designed for broad applicability—from HPLC mobile phases and coatings solvents to laboratory syntheses and metal-cleaning processes. Its miscibility with water and most organic solvents enables straightforward mixing strategies in multi-component solvent systems, while its relatively low refractive index and stable molecular structure support consistent analytical behavior under standard temperature conditions. This Acetone is stored and handled under controlled conditions to minimize moisture uptake and maintain optimal properties across batches.
Handle and store Acetone Technical Grade in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources and ignition risks. Use containers made of HDPE or glass, and wear appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Keep containers closed when not in use to minimize vapor exposure and moisture uptake. Maintain adequate ventilation and use explosion-proof equipment in compliance with applicable regulations.
Additional safety considerations include adherence to SDS guidance: Acetone is highly flammable (Hazard Statements H225) with eye irritation (H319) and potential drowsiness or dizziness (H336). In case of exposure, follow first-aid measures: eyes rinse for several minutes; skin wash with soap and water; move to fresh air if inhaled; do not induce vomiting if ingested and seek medical attention if symptoms persist. Transport is UN 1090, Acetone, Class 3, Packing Group II. Follow emergency procedures per Safety Data Sheet and local regulations.
✔ High Purity and Consistency – Assay typically 99.9% by GC with strict tolerances, ensuring reliable performance across batches.
✔ Wide Solvency and Fast Processing – Exceptional solvency for resins and organics, low viscosity facilitates handling and rapid evaporation in processing lines.
✔ Standards Compliant – Meets ACS Reagent Grade and USP-NF Monograph specifications for quality-critical applications.
✔ Analytical Compatibility – Accurate quality control indicators (density, refractive index, moisture content) support rapid verification in QC workflows.
