Aluminum Sulfate 50% Technical Grade is a concentrated aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate (Al₂(SO₄)₃) designed for reliable coagulation, clarification, and pH adjustment across multiple industrial applications. The 50% solution offers excellent water solubility and predictable performance in both drinking water treatment and industrial processes, supported by a well-defined specification aligned to ACS Reagent Grade standards. Typical concentration is 50.5% by weight with a controlled assay range of 49–51% as determined by titration with standardized NaOH, ensuring consistent dosing and scalable handling in process systems. The product exhibits a color range from clear colorless to pale yellow and remains odorless, enabling straightforward integration into sensitive chemical and water-treatment workflows. Its molecular weight is 342.15 g/mol, and the solution displays a density near 1.20 g/mL at 25°C with a viscosity around 1.5 cP, facilitating smooth pumping and metering in large-scale operations.
In addition to coagulation, the solution is compatible with cementitious and paper-manufacturing processes, where it can act as a pH adjuster and sizing aid, respectively. The product is packaged and stored in materials compatible with aluminum sulfate, such as HDPE or glass, and requires consideration of storage conditions to minimize hydrolysis and precipitation. Strict attention to handling practices, ventilation, and protective equipment is recommended in accordance with SDS guidance to ensure safe transport, storage, and use in industrial facilities.
Handling aluminum sulfate 50% requires appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and splash-resistant clothing. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight in compatible containers (HDPE or glass). Ensure proper ventilation during handling to minimize inhalation exposure to vapors and maintain segregation from incompatible materials such as strong acids and bases to prevent exothermic reactions. Refer to the SDS for detailed emergency procedures and for information on incompatibilities, first aid, and spill response.
Exposure to aluminum sulfate solutions can cause skin and eye irritation with potential for severe burns upon contact with concentrated solutions. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If inhaled, move to fresh air and seek medical attention if symptoms persist. If ingested, do not induce vomiting; seek medical advice promptly. In case of a spill, evacuate the area, contain with inert absorbent material, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. Handling should comply with relevant standards, including OSHA and local regulatory requirements.
✔ Reliable Coagulation Performance – Consistent dosing and rapid clarification across varied water chemistries, backed by strict assay control and metal impurity screening.
✔ Industry-Grade Purity – Meets ACS Reagent Grade and USP-NF monograph expectations with controlled heavy metal content and low residue after ignition.
✔ Compatibility and Versatility – Suitable for water treatment, paper, textiles, food processing, and construction applications, with proven solubility and manageable viscosity.
✔ Storage and Handling Confidence – Stable at recommended storage conditions in compatible packaging with clear SDS guidance, supporting safe long-term use.
