100% Pure Castor Oil is a highly viscous, vegetable oil derived from the seeds of Ricinus communis. It features a distinctive fatty acid profile dominated by ricinoleic acid, which imparts exceptional lubricity and emolliency suitable for demanding industrial and cosmetic formulations. The material is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid with a mild, characteristic odor, and benefits from a high molecular weight of approximately 936.04 g/mol. In quality-controlled production, the product demonstrates low levels of impurities and a tight specification window for assay, color, and residual elements, ensuring consistent performance across batches and compatibility with standard processing equipment. Its physicochemical properties enable stable lubrication, enhanced emolliency, and reliable plasticizing performance in diverse formulations.
In addition to cosmetic and personal care uses, 100% Pure Castor Oil serves as a robust lubricant for machinery and a versatile plasticizer in plastics manufacturing, with applications extending to pharmaceutical excipients and biodiesel feedstock. The heavy viscosity and oleochemical profile support sustained release and carrier functionality in drug delivery systems, while its chemical stability and compatibility with common organic solvents facilitate integration into solvent-based systems. The product also adheres to stringent analytical requirements, with explicit testing for contaminants and impurities that align with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
Handle and store the product in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight. Use containers made of HDPE or glass to prevent any interaction with container materials. Maintain adequate ventilation to minimize vapor exposure, and wear appropriate PPE, including chemical-resistant gloves and splash goggles, when handling or transferring material. Keep away from strong oxidizers and acids to reduce risk of chemical reaction or discoloration.
For safety, follow SDS guidance: the product is categorized with Eye Irrit. 2 and Skin Irrit. 2 hazard classes. In case of exposure, rinse eyes thoroughly with water for several minutes and remove contact lenses if present. If skin irritation occurs, wash with soap and water and seek medical advice. Inhalation requires moving to fresh air and seeking medical attention if symptoms persist; ingestion involves rinsing the mouth and avoiding vomiting, with medical advice if symptoms occur. Transport is UN 3082, Environmentally hazardous substance, liquid, n.o.s., Class 9, PG III. Ensure spill containment and emergency procedures per local regulations.
✔ High Purity and Consistent Quality – 99.0–100.5% assay by titration with standardized NaOH ensures reliable analytical performance across batches.
✔ Stable, High-Viscosity Emollient – Viscosity of 900–1000 cP at 25°C provides sustained lubrication and emolliency in formulations.
✔ Broad Regulatory Respect – Meets industry testing standards (ASTM, USP considerations) and aligns with safety requirements in SDS documentation.
✔ Low Impurity Profile – Very low levels of chlorides, sulfates, nitrates, and heavy metals minimize formulation risk and regulatory exposure.
