Nitric acid, also termed Aqua Fortis or Spirit of Niter, is a strongly corrosive mineral acid with a suffocating odor. It appears as a colorless liquid at room temperature but can appear yellow upon decomposition into oxides of nitrogen and water. Our Lab/Technical grade Nitric Acid (70%) can be used in commercial applications and research labs.
Applications: used in the manufacture of inorganic and organic nitrates and nitro compounds for fertilizers, dye intermediates, coal tar, inks, plastics, polymers like polyamides and polyurethane, nitroglycerin, and many different organic chemicals. It is also used mostly for the purification of precious metals like platinum, gold, and silver.
